While we’e expecting a wide-open, knock-down drag-out for the 2020 elections, we may be beginning to see some front-runners emerge.
A CNN poll from October 2018, before the 2018 mid-terms, showed former Vice President Joe Biden (33%) in the cat bird’s seat. An Reuters/Ipsos poll taken November 8th also showed Biden with a fairly commanding lead (28%) considering how early it is. All Polls show Biden leading trailed by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and California Senator Kamala Harris.
There is no doubt that it is way too early to be certain about anything. After-all, we’re still 2 years out from the 2020 election, and there will be plenty of 2020 Presidential Polls between now and election day. That being said, it might not be a bad time to think about betting on the 2020 presidential election.
Can 2020 Presidential Polls Taken In 2018 Really Be Accurate?
Of Course not. With so much time left on the proverbial clock, locking in on Joe Biden is no sure thing. After-all, the polls all show the former Vice President in the high 20 to low 30 percentages. In 2007, Hillary Clinton lead all the Democratic polls for President, and we know where she is now. Gary Hart lead the polls early in the 1988 election, and a sex-scandal forced him to retire before a single vote was cast.
I am of the opinion that the 2020 Presidential polls will remain fairly stagnant until early 2020, when the real race for the Oval Office begins in earnest. To be honest, people like you and me, who are already watching the 2020 election polls, are in the minority. 90% of U.S. voters won’t even spend a minute thinking about 2020 until… well, 2020.
Should I Bet Real Money Now on 2020 Presidential Polls?
I think you can actually get a bargain if you think you know how 2020 will turn-out if you bet on the 2020 Presidential Race now. Before you roll your eyes, take a look at my logic:
Right now, at my favorite political betting sportsbook, bovada, Joe Biden is getting +600. That means the odds makers are giving Biden a 14.29% chance of becoming the next President Of The United States. If you wait until the Democratic nomination is completed, you’ll most likely see closer to 50% odds if Biden is the nominee. Instead of pocketing $600 with a bet now, you may only collect $100 or so for every $100 you bet.
