Elections are like my Olympics. One comes around every 2 years, and only the elite complete. With both, the competition is fierce. Of course, both of these also always seem to be having problems with the Russian Judge, but that’s a different story. Did you know that you can bet on the 2020 election right now. Believe it or not, many online sportsbooks offer wagers on politics, and the 2020 election is going to be, well…. HUGE.
At Betting Presidents, we give unbiased analysis of the odds, let you know the dangers of betting on politics and we’ll even point you the way to the best sportsbooks that offer Political propositions. No wager is based on pure science. You can, however, weigh the odds by staying informed. Like sports, you can find news about politics everywhere. We’re not a news site though. We’ll lay out as much data as we can fit into this article, and try to help you make the best decision. If you’re looking for help to bet on the 2020 election, you’ve come to the right place.
Election Betting Is About Timing
If you want to get the most advantageous odds on political props, you are going to have to bet early. Right now for instance, bovada.lv (our #1 recommended sportsbook) is offering +300 odds on President Trump holding onto the office in the 2020 election. The bookmakers are giving him a 22% chance of winning as of November 2018. Since this is 2 years before the 2020 elections, there’s a good chance those odds are going closer to 50/50 as the elections near. At the time of this writing, if I bet $100 on President Trump to Win 2020 election, I’d win $350. A bet on the 2020 election this far in advance may not the most climatic thing, but compare betting now to odds giving Trump even a 40% chance. That same benjamin would only win you $150.
There are, however, many good reasons that those odds are where they are right now. Those reasons include:
A Democratically controlled House Of Representatives is a huge unknown. With Nancy Pelosi likely becoming Speaker again, anything can happen. A Pelosi speakership could embolden his supporters. A President Trump that can’t get much done with an opposing party controlling The House might not inspire enough of his supporters to get out and vote.
Ted Kennedy ruined President Jimmy Carter’s re-election bid 40 years ago by running against President Carter in the Democratic primary. The odds that a Republican will challenge a sitting Republican President in 2020 are high. What impact a challenger may have is unknown. Only time will tell.
Donald Trump is 72. Even though his Doctor gave him the cleanest bill of health in Presidential history, 4 years in the Oval Office. President Trump may decide he doesn’t want to run in 2020. He’ll be 74 years old, and he’d be 78 when he left office if successful. There are so many variables involved that nobody knows what’s going to happen.
Sure, a bet on the 2020 election is no sure thing, but sometimes you want to take a long-shot. The pay-out is better, and you get the opportunity to say you called it right the earliest to all your friends.
Bet On The 2020 Election: Senate Makeover Edition
Snazzy titles aside, 2020 is not likely to be anything like 2016 or 2018, for that matter. In 2016, there were 6 Republican held seats that were deemed competitive, and only two of those Republicans lost. In 2018, there were 5 competitive seats. Fast-forward to 2020, where it’s likely there will be 7 competitive Senate Seats. Of the 33 seats up in 2020 for election, 21 of those are Republican held seats. That’s a lot of room for error. As of this writing, there were no online sports books that were offering a bet on the 2020 election. It’s very likely, however propositions will be offered soon.
2020 In The Lower Chamber: A House Divided
It’s way to early as of the writing of this article for sportsbooks to list a bet on the 2020 election for The House Of Representatives. If the Presidential election is a game of chess, and The Senate election is a jousting match, The House is a street fight. With the Democrats taking over in 2019, likely Speaker Pelosi will make lots of waves. Whether the public likes it or not is a totally different story altogether. Although there aren’t a lot of props on 2020 House elections open right now, that will change. We’ll update this post accordingly.
Want To Bet On The 2020 Election? The Sky’s The Limit
Right now on BetOnline.ag, another one of our top recommended sportsbook for political wagering, they are offering a lot of interesting propositions. For Instance, you can bet on how old winner of the 2020 Presidential Election will be. As President Trump and Vice President Biden are the two front-runners for the 2020 Presidency, it stands to reason that BetOnline.ag are giving -250 odds to the 71 and over odds. The bookmakers are giving a 71+ President in 2020 a 70% likelihood.
Another interesting proposition that BetOnline is offering is whether The Presidential Election winner will be male or female. As of November 12th 2018, BetOnline.ag is offering -400 to a male winner with an 80% chance of winning. Of course, if you wager $100 on a female winner and Elizabeth Warren pulls it out, you’ll win $300.
Keep in mind, when I am writing this its November 2018, 2 years before any bet on the 2020 election would payoff. If you like playing the long-game, now’s the best value for your odd’s you’ll ever get on a long-shot that turns into a frontrunner by November 2020. Political betting is beating the spread before the spread is reasonably established.
Now that you’re ready to wager, lets talk about where the best sportsbooks are for U.S. players
Bovada Is The Best Site To Bet On The 2020 Election
Bovada is our top rated political wagering sportsbook, and for good reason. They have top-shelf customer service, they offer very fair odds, they’ve been in business for decades, and they are absolutely 100% legitimate. You’ll get paid the money you are owed from bovada. They have a stellar reputation in the online gaming industry, and for good reason. If you’re looking about more details on betting on politics at bovada, read our review of bovada.lv here.
Although bovada is my favorite political betting site, BetOnline.ag is a close-up 2nd, and that’s because they’re world class. They are 100% legitimate and pay what they owe. One great thing about BetOnline.ag is that you can find some really interesting (and wacky) propositions. You can read my review of BetOnline.ag here. This is a great site that’s been in business for over a decade, and you never have to worry about not getting paid what you’re owed.
Keeping Personal Feeling Out Of The Process Is Hard With Political Betting
Sure, there’s always some personal interest when you wager. If you have a favorite team, you might give them a ride every once in a while when you get that weird feeling. You know, like something big’s going to happen with The Panthers this weekend and you want to put a wager down to support your team.
While you’re waiting on 2020 with baited breath, you can take a spin on one of their casino games, play some real money poker, and bet on that favorite team at the sportsbook.
You can treat it that way, and just let it ride. I prefer to analyze the situation, get all the information and advice I can, and then try to figure out which proposition the odds makers got wrong.
Whatever the reason you might consider placing a bet on the 2020 election, I just want you to make sure you’re playing at a safe and secure website where you won’t have to worry about getting that big pay-out I should have listened to you on (I’m talking to you, Larry). Bottom line is that if you pick bovada.lv, betonline.ag, Intertops.eu or sportsbetting.ag, you’ll avoid the hassle of worrying about a scam. I’ve played on all of these sites and have always been paid what I was owed.
